I am pleased to share the latest research findings on a relatively comprehensive model of the characteristics of language instructors, just under a month before Teacher Appreciation Week, as a useful and practical gift for Persian language instructors.
This research explores the knowledge, competencies, and essential traits that make a language instructor effective in teaching Persian as a second language, from the perspective of non-Iranian Persian learners.
Our study gathered responses from 63 non-Iranian Persian learners, revealing the importance of these characteristics in language teaching.
🔑 Key Findings:
- Pedagogical knowledge, linguistic content knowledge, and social-emotional competencies are essential for effective teaching.
- Learners value politeness, respect, active listening, and the ability of instructors to build confidence.
- Motivational strategies, good communication, and the integration of technology play a critical role in successful language teaching.
This study provides valuable insights for instructors, enhances language teaching standards, and offers a deeper understanding of learners’ perspectives.
